Makybe Diva secured her place in racing history when she became the first mare to land back-to-back runnings of the Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington today.

The Lee Freedman-trained mare benefited from an inspired ride by Glen Boss as she swept to victory in the Group One event over two miles.
