Footsteps lands Leopardstown contest
Classic prospect Footstepsinthesand duly landed the odds for Aidan O’Brien and Jamie Spencer in the Kilavullan Stakes at Leopardstown today.
The 4-5 shot tracked the leader Night Prayers in the early stages before being sent on as the field turned for home over two furlongs out.
Footstepsinthesand, carrying the colours of Michael Tabor, quickly put daylight between himself and his rivals and went on to score by two lengths from the Dermot Weld-trained Gaff (100-30). Clash Of The Ash was third.
The winner was given a 25-1 quote for the 2000 Guineas by Ladbrokes.
The field for the Group Three seven-furlong contest, won last year by subsequent Irish Derby victor Grey Swallow, was reduced to six when Lock And Key refused to go into the stalls.l
