Geraghty sidelined by fall

Barry Geraghty has been stood down for seven days after taking a heavy fall at Punchestown today.

The rider parted company with Tom Taaffe’s Man About Town at the first flight in the opening Punchestown Event Centre Maiden Hurdle.

Geraghty was semi-conscious after the fall, but he regained consciousness on the way to hospital.

Irish Turf Club medical officer Dr Walter Halley said: “He’s now fully conscious and he’s been taken to Naas Hospital for further examination. He has been stood down for seven days with concussion.”
