Murphy back later this week
Timmy Murphy is likely to be back in action later this week after suffering a crashing fall at Plumpton yesterday on his return from injury.
The Irishman, who had been out of action since August 22 with a back injury, managed a fourth on his first mount back but came to grief at the sixth obstacle aboard Marin Pipe’s Straight Talker in the Cantorodds.com Selling Handicap Hurdle.
Murphy received a kick to his back and gave up his two remaining rides of the afternoon before returning home to seek further medical advice on a pelvis problem.
His agent Chris Broad said: “He hopes to be back later in the week. He was battered and very sore last night but felt better this morning and he’s having two lots of physio today.
“He was almost considering coming back tomorrow but decided not to throw caution to the wind.
“He had a bone-crushing fall with what seemed like the rest of field stepping on him.
“He could be back for Worcester on Friday or even sooner.
“Thankfully nothing’s broken, he’s just aggravated the old injury.”
