Bloom back on track
Michael Stoute’s Red Bloom will bid to get back in the winning groove when lining up for the Group Three Strensall Stakes at York on Wednesday.
Winner of the Fillies’ Mile last September, the three-year-old is one of 16 entries in the sportingoptions.co.uk Betting Exchange sponsored contest on the Knavesmire.
The daughter of Selkirk has only raced twice this season, finishing in the frame behind Attraction on both occasions, in the 1000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
“The plan is to run at York and, as she seems in very good form, we’re hoping she can get back into winning ways,” Chris Richardson, managing director of owners Cheveley Park, told the Racing Post.
“I don’t think the possibility of easy ground on the Knavesmire should be a problem, as she has a fairly high knee action, and there’s no reason for her not to handle the course.
“Sir Michael has given her some time off and it seems to have freshened her up, so we’ll just have to see if she runs as well on Wednesday as she’s now looking at home.”
