Quinn mount wins Hunt Cup

Mine, trained by James Bethell and ridden by Richard Quinn, has won the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.

Mine (16-1) landed a dramatic victory in a blanket finish to the race.

Richard Quinn forced the James Bethell-trained six-year-old home in the dying strides to beat Able Baker Charlie in the 32-runner cavalry charge over the straight mile.

Mine, winner of the Victoria Cup over seven furlongs of this mile, came with a devastating late burst to give Bethell his second Royal Ascot winner - his previous victory coming in 1977.

As expected, the field split into two groups with Langford and Putra Kuantan leading on the far side and Norton and Highland Reel taking the stands section along.

The race opened up inside the final quarter-mile with several horses having every chance.

But it was Mine who had his head in front on the line to win by a head from Able Baker Charlie (14-1) with Zonergem (33-1) a short-head away in third.

Amandus (20-1) was a close fourth and Camp Commander, second last year, was fifth.
