Batman Senora delighted connections in a schooling session ahead of his bid to give trainer Ian Williams the biggest win of his career.

The eight-year-old is reported to be “fit and well” for the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, the French Gold Cup at Auteuil on Sunday.

The gelding, who gave Williams his biggest success so far when winning the Grade One Prix la Haye Jousselin on November 9, arrived in Paris on Tuesday and delighted big-race jockey Cyril Gombeau when working at Maisons Laffitte.

Williams told his website www.ianwilliamsracing.com: “He appears to be in great form. Everyone was delighted with the schooling session and now we are hoping he can go one better than 12 months ago.”

“There will be 16 runners and Batman is likely to start second favourite.”

The one to beat is recent Prix Ingre winner Kotkijet and Williams added: “He will be a tough nut to crack but the important aspect so far is that Batman has settled in nicely and now we wait for Sunday.”
