Mick Channon today issued an upbeat appraisal of Imperial Dancer’s chance in the Singapore Airlines International Cup at Kranji racecourse on Sunday.

Imperial Dancer is the only British runner in the Group One contest, which is the second leg of the World Series.

The six-year-old pleased his connections in a gallop on the course on Thursday.

Imperial Dancer could start favourite for the race, but his trainer believes that in order to win, he will need a certain amount of luck.

Channon said: “My horses are showing signs that they are ready to start hitting a few targets and I sincerely hope the Singapore race will be one of them.

“Imperial Dancer worked good the other day and everything has gone well since his arrival in Singapore. He’s a very talented horse who has already won a Group One, but he does need things to fall right for him.”
