Patavellian among York entries

Patavellian, winner of the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp last October, heads 21 horses confirmed at the five-day stage for the Duke Of York Hearthstead Homes Stakes at York next Tuesday.

The Roger Charlton-trained gelding progressed from winning handicaps such as the Bunbury Cup and the Stewards’ Cup to Group One success in France.

Charlton has also left in the lightly-raced four-year-old colt Trade Fair, a good winner over seven furlongs last term.

A strong entry for the Group Two contest over six furlongs also includes the Tim Easterby-trained Somnus, winner of the Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup last year, Henry Candy’s filly Airwave, Challenge Stakes scorer Just James from the Jeremy Noseda yard, and Sir Michael Stoute’s Arakan.
