O’Brien hoping tests solve Cat mystery

Aidan O’Brien is hoping tests carried out on One Cool Cat this week will solve the mystery of why the colt flopped in Saturday’s UltimateBet.com 2000 Guineas.

Sent off the 15-8 favourite, One Cool Cat was settled in rear but could find nothing when urged to take closer order by Jamie Spencer.

He eventually trailed in with only pace-setting outsider Golden Sahara behind him, and was later reported by a Jockey Club vet to have an irregular heartbeat.

O’Brien said: “We will do an ECG (electrocardiogram) on him this week and hopefully by the end of the week we’ll know more about what was troubling him.

“He seems absolutely fine now and his heartbeat seems to be normal again.”
