Ian Mongan had his appeal against a two-day riding ban dismissed by the Jockey Club today.

Mongan went before the disciplinary panel to contest the decision of the Wolverhampton stewards to ban him after his ride on Scottish Exile who was third in the betdirect.co.uk Classified Stakes on April 24.

The panel heard evidence from Mongan and Simon Whitworth, the rider of Crewes Miss Isle, before judging that Mongan had interfered with the other runner on the final bend.

Mongan was judged guilty of careless riding in that he manoeuvred the filly towards the rail causing Whitworth to hook up.

The panel suspended him from riding for May 5 and 6 and ordered the £450 (€669.80) deposit money to be forfeited.
