Fallon back in action at Kempton
Champion jockey Kieren Fallon returned to action after a 21-day riding ban at Kempton Park today.
He had no luck on his first ride back when unplaced on Spring Surprise in the turftours.com Masaka Stakes, a trial for the UltimateBet.com 1000 Guineas.
Spring Surprise was in the rear all the way in the mile race and was unable to get in a blow when Fallon applied vigorous pressure. She finished sixth.
Fallon’s suspension was for not riding out for first place on Ballinger Ridge in a controversial race at Lingfield on March 2. He had dropped his hands when clear and was caught and beaten a short head by Rye.
Earlier this week the six-times champion was told he will have to face a Jockey Club disciplinary panel hearing following articles in the News Of The World.
The panel will decide if he breached rules relating to the giving of information for personal reward and bringing racing into disrepute as a result of the articles.
The newspaper alleged that Fallon told undercover journalists before the Lingfield race that Rye would beat his mount Ballinger Ridge.
Fallon has insisted he is completely innocent of allegations of wrong-doing.
