Rodgers faces jockey club hearing
Platinum Racing Club director Miles Rodgers is to face the Jockey Club’s disciplinary panel tomorrow charged with laying his own horse to lose with a betting organisation.
If found guilty, he faces being disqualified from British racing from three months to 10 years, depending on the nature and gravity of the offence.
The hearing, scheduled to start at 9.30am, follows a Jockey Club investigation into the runs of Uhoomagoo at Redcar on October 28 and Million Percent at Wolverhampton on November 14.
Both horses ran under the ownership of Platinum Racing Club Ltd.
The investigation is the first under Rule 247, which came into force on September 1 and prohibits owners, trainers and stable staff from laying their own horses to lose with a betting organisation.
He is also charged with deliberately misleading Philip Walker, an investigating officer for the Jockey Club’s security department, by providing false information to him during an interview on December 10.
The panel will consider the evidence, including a statement from Rodgers, who will be legally represented, and Mr David O’Reilly, Legal Counsel of Betfair.
The Jockey Club’s investigation was conducted with the assistance of Betfair through their Memorandum of Understanding with the Jockey Club, which has been in place since last June.
