Trabolgan 'fine' after Rasen scare

Cheltenham Festival prospect Trabolgan is ‘absolutely fine’ after being pulled up at Market Rasen on Tuesday.

The six-year-old was taken out of the EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle (Qualifier) after jumping the third flight with jockey Marcus Foley reporting that his mount was moving badly.

“He just must have banged himself but is absolutely fine,” said Michael Meagher, racing manager for owner Trevor Hemmings.

“He is going for a full examination today but he was sound when he got home from the races and was all right yesterday morning.

“The vet has checked him over and found no problems, no cuts, bruises, marks or anything.”

The Nicky Henderson-trained gelding finished second in last year’s Weatherbys Champion Bumper and has scored on both his completed starts over timber.

Trabolgan is entered in the Letheby & Christopher Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and the Royal & SunAlliance Novices’ Hurdle at this year’s National Hunt extravaganza, although no firm decision about his participation has been made.

“We’ll have to run again before making any plans about Cheltenham,” added Meagher.
