Russell hurt in fall at Cork

Davy Russell appears to have escaped serious injury following a fall from Camden Tanner at Cork today.

Russell, based with Ferdy Murphy at West Witton in North Yorkshire, took a tumble from the Robert Tyner seven-year-old in the Fermoy Novice Chase.

“He had a nasty fall and was stood down for the rest of the day,” said Murphy.

“He was taken to hospital but there was nothing broken. He’s okay.

“He’s down to ride for me at Towcester tomorrow but I would say that might be doubtful now.

“We’re down to have about 20 runners this week so we are quite busy the rest of the week.

“I don’t know exactly how he’s been stood down for but no doubt I’ll find out later.”

Russell has ridden 24 winners so far this season.
