Orders back for Ebor

The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old justified favouritism in a valuable handicap at the Galway Festival last week when running out a two-length winner from Eckbeag.

The son of Unblest is nothing if not versatile and actually landed the Champion Stayers’ event over hurdles at Punchestown in May, which came on the back of an excellent eighth in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.

In between those two hurdle runs, he finished second to the smart Black Sam Bellamy in a Listed race over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown, prior to winning over a mile and five furlongs at Navan.

Decent support with Coral has seen him cut to 16-1 from 25s.

“Although this horse won at Galway on Friday night, it must have been some party afterwards as it’s only now that his followers have backed him for the Ebor,” said spokesman David Stevens.

Sunday’s Chester winner Sun Bird has also been in demand for the big handicap and is now 25-1 (from 40-1).
