Rhythm on track for Nassau
Russian Rhythm did not figure among the final declarations for the Sussex Stakes today and looks all set to tackle Saturday’s Vodafone Nassau Stakes instead.
The three-year-old filly, winner of the Sagitta 1000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes, will be stepping up to a mile and a quarter in the Group One event.
Russian Rhythm, who is trained by Sir Michael Stoute, will be trying the longer trip for the first time, but John Marsh, spokesman for the owners Cheveley Park Stud, is optimistic about her chances.
“I’ve not spoke to Sir Michael since Saturday but at this moment in time, she will run in the Nassau,” he said.
“Kieren (Fallon) always has trouble pulling her up so one wouldn’t think the extra distance would inconvenience her.”
