Casual Look heads British challenge
Five British-trained fillies remain among the 14 left in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh after the final forfeit stage.
They are headed by Andrew Balding’s Casual Look, winner of the Vodafone Oaks at Epsom.
John Gosden could be double-handed with both High Praise and Ocean Silk left in Sunday’s Classic.
High Praise won a Group Two at Saint-Cloud last month, while Ocean Silk just failed to catch Spanish Sun in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Spanish Sun is also among the possibles, as is Hanami.
James Toller’s filly has already shown a liking for the Curragh, having won the Group Two Pretty Polly Stakes on her latest start.
Christophe Soumillon rode her then, but Kieren Fallon is expected to take over at the weekend.
The home defence is headed by Yesterday, one of two trained by Ballydoyle maestro Aidan O’Brien, who also has L’Ancresse in the race.
Yesterday was considered an unlucky loser behind Casual Look at Epsom, having suffered a troubled passage, and has been installed as 2-1 favourite by Irish layers Cashmans and Paddy Power.
There was one supplementary entry today, the Jim Bolger-trained Snippets, who was second to Hanami in the Pretty Polly.
