A dedicated horseracing programme will start on TV3 on June 6 as part of Horse Racing Ireland's five-year Strategic Plan.

The new series - 'Go Racing' - will run for 13 weeks over the summer months and will provide viewers with an insider's guide to the world of horse racing in Ireland.

The half-hour weekly programme will be broadcast at 10pm on Friday nights and will be repeated at 10am on Saturday mornings. It will be sponsored by Horse Racing Ireland.

Well-known racing personality Brian Gleeson will present the show and he will be joined in studio by guests from the industry.

The programme will feature studio discussions to include news and views of significant events on the racing calendar and profiles of leading industry figures. It will also contain betting advice, tipsters and competitions.

"Talking about horses and the people behind them is a great national pastime. Go Racing will bring out some of the most informed and entertaining viewpoints in Irish Racing today," according to Michael O'Rourke, director of marketing and communications, HRI.

Commenting on TV3's involvement Jane Gogan, commissioning editor, TV3 said: "This is a very exciting development. Brian Gleeson and the production team will bring a new and unique dimension to TV3 sports coverage for our viewers."

Independent production company Highflyer Ireland has been commissioned by the station to produce the show.
