Chauvinist wins Ladbroke Hurdle

Nobody saw much of it, not least his 19 rivals, but Chauvinist was a clear-cut winner of the £100,000 (€156,000) Ladbroke Hurdle at a fog-bound Ascot today.

In order to help racing get the green light on one of its most prestigious jumps fixtures, the last flight was moved 100 yards forward – and accordingly, nearer to the judge’s box – before the start of racing.
