A new £50,000 (€78,000) race will be run at Cheltenham on December 14 when store-horse graduates of the 2000 Doncaster Spring Sales line up for the Doncaster Bloodstock Sales Future Champions Novices’ Chase.

More than 200 three and four-year-olds sold at the 2000 Sales are eligible for the £50,000 race over two miles and five furlongs.

Ireland's Charlie Swan has the contest in mind for African Waters. The six-year-old mare won a beginners’ chase at Clonmel in September and was fourth in a Flat maiden at Navan last month.

“The Cheltenham race sounds like a contest that should suit her very well, the trip should be ideal,” said Swan.

Champion trainer Martin Pipe has a string of possibles including Juvantique, a dual point-to-point winner for the trainer’s son David since being beaten a neck on his debut in an Exeter bumper.

And Rakaposhi Lass, winner of a Newton Abbot maiden hurdle in August and unbeaten in four starts, but yet to jump a fence in public.
