Quinn out after Wolverhampton fall
Jockey Jimmy Quinn could be on the sidelines for the next month after sustaining a broken collar bone and sprained wrist in a heavy fall at Wolverhampton last night.
He was on board the Reg Hollinshead-trained Zarzella in the Bet Direct Breeders Cup Specials Median Auction Maiden Stakes when the horse crashed to the ground in the seven-furlong contest.
Quinn was catapulted into the sand and, although he was able to get to his feet, was taken to Newcross Hospital where his injuries were confirmed.
Quinn said today: “My collar bone has gone and I’ve badly sprained my wrist. I’ve got a support bandage on my left arm and it’s in a sling too.
“I would have thought I’d be out for about three weeks. The jump boys usually take three weeks to a month to recover, but I do heal pretty quickly.”
