Johnston looks forward
Despite continuing to head the current trainers‘ table in terms of winners with 111 successes, Mark Johnston is already looking forward to next season when he looks to have an impressive team to go to battle with.
With relatively-unexposed three-year-olds like Legal Approach, Love Regardless and Systematic all set to stay in training next year, Johnston is hopeful to at least repeat this term‘s successes.
“I think it was time that we had a bit of a clear-out as we have been relying upon some old horses to fly the flag for us,” said Johnston, who has saddled 109 winners this time round.
“We are hopefully going to have quite a few really good four-year-olds next year. I just hope that next year’s three-year-olds can keep up the good work.”
Johnston, however, had less positive news about St Leger third Bandari.
“He has not been 100% and he is away at Greenwood Ellis (veterinary surgeons) in Newmarket at the moment,” he revealed.
“They are doing scans and if they can’t find anything then he will come back to us.
“But something is not quite right.”
