Hugs all round at York
Hugs Dancer won a dramatic renewal of the Tote Ebor at York today.
Favourite Charley Bates and Frankie Dettori raced very wide in the early stages and soon established a long lead but they appeared to have gone too fast and gave way three furlongs out as Dawn Invasion set sail for home.
But Dean McKeown had the move covered on Hugs Dancer and they went in pursuit, getting on top inside the final furlong to score at 25-1 with Pole Star (16-1) keeping on for second.
Barathea Blazer (8-1) was third with Dawn Invasion (10-1) fading into fourth.
Leading fancy Sarangani looked to have broken down badly when pulled up six furlongs out.
