The feature of the second day of the Galway Festival, the McDonough Handicap, has gone to 8/1 shot Vinthea.

Mick Kinane's mount "In the Limelight" went into the race as favourite, but lost out. Earlier, 11/8 favourite Mutakarrim claimed the opener, the Albatross Feeds Maiden Hurdle at 5pm.

"Barrow Drive", the 2/1 favourite, took the honours in the 5.35 Albatros Plant Chase, while the 6:10 EBF Fillies Maiden Stakes went to Feabhas at 8-to-1.

Elsewhere Clare jockey Kieren Fallon steered "Elusive City" to victory in the main race on the opening day at Goodwood, the Richmond Stakes. The 9/2 shot held off "Revenue" by three lengths.
