Horse Racing: Streamstown pleases Ferdy ahead of de Vere bid
Streamstown is firmly on course for the De Vere Gold Cup at Haydock Park on Saturday following a pleasing work-out in the hands of Adrian Maguire.
‘‘It was good, no problems at all. Adrian seemed very happy with him so he’s going to Haydock.
‘‘Adrian rode him on the Flat and afterwards says he wants to go to Haydock to ride him,’’ trainer Ferdy Murphy said.
‘‘Streamstown loves the mud and he put up a good performance to win the Singer & Friedlander at Uttoxeter last time,’’ Maguire told the Racing Channel.
Murphy will consult with owner Paul Green before deciding whether Hindiana accompanies Streamstown in the €163,765 feature over three miles four and a half furlongs.
‘‘I’ve got to speak to Paul Green and decide, but at the moment I don’t really know,’’ explained Murphy.
Streamstown is 6-1 with William Hill for the De Vere with Hindiana on 7-1.
