Horseracing: Alexander Banquet takes Hennessy Gold Cup
Florida Pearl, the outstanding favourite to win today’s Hennessy Gold Cup, finished a disappointing fourth place at Leopardstown today.
Florida Pearl was bidding for his fourth successive Gold Cup and, despite looking comfortable at the start, he looked tired and heavy-footed in the closing stages.
The winner was the 3/1 backed Alexander’s Banquet who won by a length and a half from his nearest contender. Behrajan came second while Rince Ri came third.
