Racing: Record entry for Champion Chase
A record 32 entries have been unveiled for the £220,000 Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham on March 13.
They include reigning champion, Henrietta Knight’s Edredon Bleu, and Philip Hobbs’ Flagship Uberalles, impressive winner of the Tingle Creek Chase on his return to action at Sandown in December.
Miss Knight’s Best Mate has also been entered in the two-mile championship, as well as the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup the following day.
Other leading lights include Paul Nicholls’ Fadalko, winner of the Mumm Melling Chase at Aintree, and the Irish-trained duo, Michael O’Brien’s Knife Edge and Arthur Moore’s Native Upmanship.
Martin Pipe has entered Wahiba Sands, successful on his last two starts at Ascot and set to contest the Victor Chandler Chase back there on Saturday.
