My Dream Boat and The Grey Gatsby are both intended starters for Clive Cox and Kevin Ryan respectively, while Hugo Palmer hopes to run Covert Love but has warned that he won’t run on her ground softer than good.
Godolphin’s Tryster and the John Gosden-trained Western Hymn make up the remaining possible starters.
Connections of A Shin Hikari say they are excited by the task facing their five-year-old. Last year’s brilliant Hong Kong Cup hero stamped his authority on the European middle-distance scene with a staggering 10-length victory on his seasonal reappearance in the Group One Prix D’Ispahan at Chantilly in May and Masahiro Watanabe, racing manager for the team behind the grey son of Deep Impact, told www.ascot.co.uk he was looking forward to the challenge.
Watanabe was, however, keen to stress that Ascot’s track will be a very different experience for the world’s highest-rated racehorse.
“I’ve just walked the course and I think compared to Chantilly and Japan, I think it might be a tough course.
“We certainly hope A Shin Hikari can repeat his form in Chantilly. Not forgetting Yutaka Take will be riding the horse as well so I think that’s not to be taken lightly.”
