Jet Setting masters Minding in 1,000 Guineas

Just like Awtaad in the colts’ classic on Saturday, Jet Setting proved a hugely popular winner of yesterday’s Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh as she battled tenaciously to deny odds-on favourite Minding a Guineas double by a head after a titanic tussle.
Jet Setting masters Minding in 1,000 Guineas

A bargain buy, for just 12,000 Guineas at the Newmarket Sales last October, and supplemented for both the Qipco 1,000 Guineas (faded to finish ninth on unsuitably quick ground) and yesterday’s classic (at a cost of €30,000), the tough Fast Company filly provided her trainer Adrian Keatley and jockey Shane ‘Dusty’ Foley with a first classic success.

Having dictated the pace, Jet Setting looked vulnerable as Ryan Moore moved 4/11 favourite Minding into a challenging position with more than two furlongs to race. Moore oozed confidence but, gradually, got to work on the Newmarket heroine and a tremendous battle then developed.
