Midnight Theatre to star in mares’ maiden hurdle in Limerick

If Limerick can survive an ominous forecast for its going, given yesterday afternoon as heavy, waterlogged in places, there are some decent opportunities for punters, headed by Midnight Theatre in the mares’ maiden hurdle.

Gavin Cromwell’s seven-year-old won her point-to-point at Horse and Jockey, beating useful sort Jodies Miss, and was far from disgraced when third behind Marygale Bridge on her track debut, in a Cork bumper.

She faced a tough task behind Whistle Dixie on her debut over hurdles, but there was plenty of promise to be taken from the fifth-place finish. She stepped up on that when just touched off by Ballybrowney Ella at Punchestown last time out, and that level of performance should be good enough here.
