Felix Younger can justify cramped odds for Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins
The ten-year-old progressed nicely though last season, and made a fine start to this season with a third-place finish behind Road To Riches in the Clonmel Oil Chase followed by a smooth victory in the Hilly Way Chase, which was rerouted to Navan.
He should have little trouble confirming the latter form with Twinlight and Days Hotel, and can take this at the expense of Flemenstar and Mozoltov.
The nap at Punchestown goes to High Stratos in the Pertemps Qualifier.
One of two runners for Jessica Harrington, and arguably the outsider of the two, he was a smart sort last season, winning a Navan maiden hurdle on testing ground in March.
He ran as well as could have been expected on his return, when third behind Thomas Hobson at Punchestown, and improved a touch when fourth behind Noble Emperor in a handicap.
On the latter occasion, he left the impression he would improve for the step up in trip, and this race, over three miles, is a good opportunity to prove so.
He looks progressive enough to take a race of this nature, and Donagh Meyler’s 5lb claim is another positive.
He is preferred to stable companion Oscar Sam, and Mydor.
At Fairyhouse this afternoon Thywillbedone can make the most of a decent handicap mark by landing the two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle for trainer Paul Hennessy and jockey Danny Mullins.
The promising filly made the breakthrough over hurdles at Punchestown in November, but failed to make an impact in a Grade 3 on her next start.
She returned from a short break with a run on the all-weather and that should have put her spot-on for her return to jumping.
She’s a filly who likes to get on with it, but Danny Mullins knows her well and, given this is her first try over two and a half miles, will likely try to get a hold of her early.
She’s officially joint highest rated in the field, but receives all the allowances, which get her in off a handy-looking mark.
This is a significant drop in class over hurdles and if her stamina holds out, she’ll be hard to beat.
