The 5-2 chance moved left from traps and clashed with Burgess Import, but recovered quickly to take the rails slot racing to the turn.

With a fine turn of pace, he took over from Gwan Slab as the third bend loomed, and stayed on strongly to beat that rival by two and a half lengths, in 28.62.

Castlehyde King got favourite backers off to the perfect start when taking the opener for trainer Tony Winters and owner William Barrett.

The even-money chance missed the kick but tracked well around the opening bends to move second behind Ballyboy Mister.

He challenged hard from the third turn, and edged ahead of the last bend to win by three parts of a length, in 29.12.

John O’Donovan, Innishannon, took the night’s first sprint with 7-2 chance Silver Ripple. The lightly raced dog showed pace to lead into the first bend, and ran on strongly to beat Blue Haste by a length and a half, in 17.99.

In race three, an A5 525, the judge was unable to separate the John Dore-owned Loughteen Steel and Ashley Corkery’s Street Trend.

The former went clear down the back but the latter joined him at the top of the straight and they raced home locked together, in 29.10.

Jerry O’Sullivan’s Kilmoney Nipper secured a 21st career victory when taking race four by a narrow margin.

In front early, the 5-4 favourite withstood the flying finish of the long-absent Droopys Saab by a head, in 17.81.

Tommy Delaney, Ballincollig, has had numerous high-class sorts through the years and Harlem Princess showed herself to be a very promising youngster when taking race five in great style.

By Magic Sprite out of Gurrane Blue, the July pup was a runaway winner on debut, and made light of the step up to A4 company with another all-the-way victory.

Belying her inexperience, the youngster held her ground well against the early challenge of Carrowkeal Monty, and stayed on well to beat that rival by two and a half lengths, in 28.88.

Rosenallis made all the running to take the last of the night’s three sprints, for Jerry Murphy and Dan Bracken.

The February pup announced himself as a sprinter of considerable ability when leading all the way in a very smart 17.58.

Coolagown completed back-to-back victories by taking race seven for Michael Leahy and Franny Woods. Away well, he took over from Hotfoot Fenway around the final bends, and held off the slow-starting but fast-finishing Rockforest Jill by a neck, in 29.13.

Rockforest Laura made the most of a drop in grade to take the eighth race for Liam and Eileen Lane.

The 5-2 chance was well housed, next to the rails, and had the early dash to make the most of it.

A length clear early, she stayed on well to double that advantage, over Ardrath Star, in 29.11.

Arclight Bolt, a half-brother to Go Dex Go, scored for the second time in just five outings when flying home to take race nine in eye-catching style.

Lyric Lady and Droopys Brisbane took turns up front but the eventual winner is a fine stayer in the making, and the March pup led very late to beat the latter by a length and a half, in 29.11.

Antartic Scott is hard to beat in A2 company over 550 yards, and Kevin and Alan Duggan’s experienced wide runner secured a third victory in his last four outings under those conditions when running out an easy winner of the tenth race, in 30.13.
