Flyer puts seal on 33/1 treble for Walsh

Mark Walsh proved the hero on Student Day in Sligo, completing a magnificent 33/1 treble on Pretty Woman, Badgerfort and Shantou Flyer.

And his victory on the Colin Bowe-trained Shantou Flyer in the four-runner Foley’s Bar & Off Licence Chase was the undoubted highlight, as the 9/10 favourite, who jumped deliberately at times had to be kept up to his work on before digging deep for Walsh on the run-in to beat Shadow Catcher (Bryan Cooper) by a half-length.

Bowe said: “He’s a nice novice over a trip. Today’s was a bit sharp for him, but the stiff track played into his hands. Mark made plenty of use of him and he just grinds away.”
