Stellar Glow can gain valuable breakthrough success

The Jim Bolger-trained Stellar Glow, placed in some distinguished company in her time, should belatedly shed her maiden tag in the Irish Stallion Farms Fillies Maiden in Leopardstown tonight.

Stellar Glow can gain valuable breakthrough success

This daughter of Sea The Stars, a six-race maiden, has achieved a rating of 101, making her one of the highest-rated maidens in training and more than capable of opening account in this company.

Runner-up in two of her juvenile starts, beaten by Tamadhor and Easter respectively, she also filled third spot behind this year’s Investec Oaks heroine Qualify in the Group 3 C L Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh.

Stellar Glow has competed at Group 3 and listed level in her three stars this season, finishing fourth behind Iveagh Gardens and Found in the Athasi at the Curragh before finishing fifth to Kissed By Angels in a Guineas trial at Leopardstown. Last time, she chased home Outstanding (third in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks last Saturday) in the listed Naas Oaks Trial and, stepping-up to a mile and a half for the first time, should register a valuable breakthrough success. Aidan O’Brien’s On A Pedestal might chase home the Coolcullen filly.

The opening Racecourse Of the Year 2-Y-0 Race will feature a clash of two potentially high-class colts, Port Douglas and Sanus Per Aquam, debut winners at Leopardstown at the Curragh respectively in recent weeks.

Slight preference is for Jim Bolger’s Sanus Per Aquam, a half-brother to Morning Mix and open to plenty of improvement with the experience of his Curragh defeat of Ballydoyle colt Lieutenant General under his belt.

In the handicap action, another recent course winner Hurricane Sky might defy top-weight and an 8lb. hike for his narrow defeat of Landau in the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show Handicap while polytrack specialist The Dancing Lord might build on a recent fourth to Toccata Blue in the Leopardstown Handicap.
