Tyner charge can defy top weight
Now a nine-year-old, the Dushyantor gelding has won twice over fences this season, in addition to finishing runner-up to Vics Canvas in the Paddy Power Cork Grand National in Mallow back in early November and disappointing, when favourite, at Newbury four weeks later.
Successful on good ground at Roscommon back in September, Tyner’s charge returned after an absence of more than four months to make all in a handicap chase at Tramore little more than a week ago.
A bold-jumper, Dushrembrandt beat Ravished and Character Actor on that occasion, off a mark of 117, and was raised 6lb by the handicapper.
Clearly in good form and proven on drying ground, Philip Enright’s mount should prove tough to beat, although veteran Prince Rudi, if reproducing his best hurdle form, would be a definite threat.
Locally-trained Cest Notre Gris sets the standard in the earlier Barrow Maiden Hurdle following a couple of solid placed effort in recent weeks.
A creditable third behind Wildebeest and subsequent winner Sizing Titanium on his penultimate start at Navan, he was no match for Voices Of Spring at Fairyhouse last time.
Although his best form has been achieved on a soft surface, Liz Doyle’s charge deserves to break his duck over timber and is preferred to Poetic Lord, having his first run since last year’s Galway Festival, and Gordon Elliott’s 107-rated Credulous.
Elliott probably has better prospects with the consistent Miss Dinamic, third to The Brock Inn at Tramore last week, in the mares bumper.
