Aidan Coleman suffers four-day ban for whip use in Welsh National

Aidan Coleman was handed a four-day ban by the British Horseracing Authority for his winning ride on Emperor’s Choice in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow.

Coleman partnered the Venetia Williams-trained Emperor’s Choice to a short-head victory in the Chepstow feature on December 27, with the local stewards raising no concerns about his ride on the day.

The BHA subsequently decided that Coleman used his whip above the permitted level and originally planned to hold a meeting at Chepstow on Friday but that fixture was abandoned.
