Arif set to build on promising debut in maiden at Dundalk

Michael Halford’s Arif can land the one-mile Elusive Pimpernel Maiden at Dundalk tonight.

The son of Nayef made a promising debut on this track last month and has to be fancied to build on that. The selection was in no hurry to understand what was required and had plenty to do early in the straight.

But then the penny began to drop and he came home strongly to finish three parts of a length second behind David Marnane’s newcomer, Emperor Bob.
