Sprinting to suit Fideles

The decision by Aidan O’Brien to turn Adestes Fideles’ thoughts to sprinting can reap a dividend in the six furlongs Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Maiden on the all weather tonight.

Sprinting to suit Fideles

Connections clearly believed she needed a trip and Adeste Fideles actually contested a mile and a half maiden at Fairyhouse last month.

That was perfectly understandable, considering she is by Giant’s Causeway out of Imagine.

The latter, of course, never ran at less than seven furlongs and possessed sufficient stamina to win the Epsom Oaks.

The selection, however, seemed much happier over seven furlongs on this track last time when producing her best effort of the season to finish half a length second behind Mansuri.

She was in front at the furlong pole, is well drawn here and it really is now or never for her, you’d imagine!

Feature event is the Listed Mercury Stakes and the nod falls on the four-year-old, Abstraction.

The son of Majestic Missile was last seen when grabbed late and beaten three parts of a length by Sir Maximilian over the minimum trip at Tipperary in August. He has to have every chance of reversing placings on 4lbs better terms.
