Baily Green bids to get season on track in Clonmel

Baily Green will bid to get his season on track in next month’s Clonmel Oil Chase.

The eight-year-old has been a fine servant to trainer Mouse Morris and his owners in recent seasons, winning seven times over fences as well as numerous placed efforts, including when second in the 2013 Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham.

He was pulled up on his seasonal reappearance in the PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park at the start of the month, but Morris has a viable excuse for that disappointing comeback.

Morris said: “He scoped badly after his last run in Gowran, so we’ll try again with him in the Clonmel race on November 13.”

The County Tipperary handler also had news of two of his other stable stars, Rule The World and Rathlin.

Rule The World, runner-up behind The New One at Cheltenham in 2013 and last seen finishing sixth in the World Hurdle, is unlikely to make his return to action until the Festive period.

“Rule The World is just back in and we’ve no plans for him at this stage,” said Morris. It probably will be Christmas (before he runs).”
