Will this be lucky 13 for Al Fahidi?
The nap vote falls on Andy Oliver’s Al Fahidi, who will be attempting to get off the mark at the 13th attempt.
The daughter of Singspiel has been performing well enough of late to indicate she has a live chance in this modest affair.
At Leopardstown early last month, for instance, she chased home Amazing Star in a nine furlongs, 18-runner competitive handicap.
Her latest outing came at Killarney 15 days ago, this time over an extended mile, and Al Fahidi ran solidly again to finish third behind Tahaf and Longfield Lad in another wide-open affair. Pat Flynn’s Blistering Dancer can, hopefully, live up to his name in the six furlongs O’Neills’ Sports Handicap. He certainly did so on his latest appearance at Sligo, making most of the running to score by three parts of a length.
He reappears now off a mark 6lbs higher.
He’s Our Man, a nine-year-old not short on pace, is the choice in the seven furlongs Hibernia Steel Race. Ross O’Sullivan’s charge arrives on the back of finishing third behind Pires over flights at the Down Royal meeting last Friday.
The Marquees Nationwide Claiming Race may be best left to Gordon Elliott's Sister Slew, who is easily the highest rated in the 10-horse field.
