News At Six gives Bolger third ‘Derby’ this year

Jim Bolger dominated last night’s action at the Curragh, completing a fine 306/1 treble with Feach Ar Agaidh, News At Six and Chance To Dance.

Former champion apprentice Ronan Whelan, from nearby Monastervin, captured the Deal Done Apprentice Derby for the first time when producing 20/1 shot News At Six in the final furlong to foil market-leaders Karezak and Captain Teemo.

Bolger quipped: “That’s my third Derby this year — it must be a record,” referring to his victories in the Cork Derby (Chance To Dance), the Magners Ulster Derby (Wexford Town) and now the Apprentice Derby.
