Unrequited can continue Lyons’ hot streak
The son of Authorized has gone off at 25-1 and 20-1 in his two outings thus far, but no such fancy prices will be on offer on this occasion.
He made his debut over an inadequate seven furlongs at the Curragh in October and it was a reasonable start, finishing eighth behind Ebanoran in a contest that has thrown up plenty of winners.
The selection reappeared at Leopardstown in May, this time over a mile and a half, and stayed on steadily in the straight to claim third spot behind Sundara and Marakoush.
Dabasan, Wrap Star and Granddukeoftuscany are horses of some potential, but, with a run under his belt and a fast surface, it was soft at Leopardstown, Unrequited is the call.
Aidan O’Brien’s Rule The Waves looks best in the opening five furlongs Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden.
He ran fast for a long way when third over six furlongs behind stable companion, Battle Of Marathon, and I Will Excel at Leopardstown a week ago and can be expected to come on plenty.
Charles O’Brien’s Shutter Island, competing off a lowly mark of 46, is the one to beat in the TipperaryRaces.ie Handicap.
The son of Jeremy may be on the upgrade, considering the ease with which he landed a modest maiden hurdle at Roscommon 16 days ago.
Calm Bay, who won in a canter at Down Royal last Saturday, has to get the nod to defy a mandatory 5lbs penalty in the Tipperary Family Day 12th July Handicap. He goes up by 14lbs in the future.
