Lord Adare can set the record straight

Lord Adare, a somewhat unlucky loser at Limerick last month, can set the record straight in the Point-To-Point Evening 15th May Maiden Hurdle at Tipperary this evening.

Lord Adare can set the record straight

A smooth winner on his bumper debut at the Limerick Christmas meeting, Charles Byrnes’ charge reappeared over flights back at that track.

Going off a 4-5 shot, he jumped and travelled really well through the two miles and three contest.

The Moscow Society gelding came there strongly in the straight and seemed to have everything covered heading to the second last.

But, shortly before the obstacle, Lord Adare jinked to his left and almost ran out. He rallied back, but faced an uphill battle and was eventually beaten three parts of a length into second by Todd.

Despite his behaviour, Lord Adare remains a promising horse and the six-year-old is the nap choice.

Willie McCreery’s Champagne Or Water is the fancy in the Fundraising Events At Tipperary Races Maiden.

Her two outings thus far have come over seven furlongs (Dundalk) and six furlongs (Cork), but McCreery has obviously decided that, for the moment at least, the minimum trip may be the best option for the daughter of Captain Rio.

She ran at Cork last Saturday and was beaten six lengths into second by Dermot Weld’s well-backed Alkasser.

Champagne Or Water ran well for most of the journey and this does appear to be an easier assignment.

Aidan O’Brien’s The Great War has to be regarded as the most interesting candidate in the opening Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden.

The Great War is by War Front and would want to be able to go a bit, considering he cost $1m as a yearling.
