Dream can make long trek pay-off
The six-year-old is progressive and looks nicely handicapped over flights right now. He has been chasing of late, getting off the mark at that game in style at Tramore on New Year’s Day.
Going off the 4-1 favourite, Thats The Dream went to the front at the second last and then steadily drew clear to win a modest contest by ten lengths.
This is another moderate affair and the fact the selection competes off a mark that is 8lbs below his new rating over fences clearly signposts his prospects.
Henry de Bromhead’s once-raced Sizing Codelco gets the vote in the Punters’ Pack Maiden Hurdle.
Jumping well, he ran a cracker at Leopardstown at Christmas and there is every reason to believe will build on that.
The five-year-old finished sixth behind Western Boy, only fading on the approach to the final flight.
Western Boy, Kylestyle (second) and Daneking (third) have all done their bit for the form in the meantime.
Charles Byrnes’ Feenakilmeedy is the interesting one in the opening Book Online @fairyhouse.ie Mares’ Maiden Hurdle.
She showed nothing first time out in a bumper at Sligo in October and it was no surprise was a 25-1 shot when returning over hurdles at Limerick at Christmas.
But Feenakilmeedy finished to real effect to be beaten half a length into second by Horendus Hulabaloo and that was a promising effort.
Drive On Locky, up 8lbs for going down by a head to the heavily backed Tony Martin-trained Gallant Oscar at Navan, may go one better in the Arkle Package On Easter Monday Novice Handicap Hurdle.
