Figures reveal increase in bloodstock sales

A sharp increase in bloodstock sales and returning growth to racecourse attendances and Tote activity, were among the highlights as the horse racing industry figures for Ireland were released yesterday.

Revenue from the sales ring was up 43% to €133.4m, accentuating the enduring appeal for Irish-bred horses in light of continued international success, be it Cheltenham, Royal Ascot, the Breeders’ Cup or the Melbourne Cup.

Export Sales are up by almost 18%, with Irish-breds being sold to 37 countries last year.
