Fabre has romantic notions

Andre Fabre believes Romantica is capable of making her presence felt in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita tonight.

The daughter of Galileo has won twice from four starts this season, clinching Group One glory in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville in August.

She was not disgraced when seventh in the Prix Vermeille last month and Fabre believes his filly will enjoy the likely fast surface in California.

Fabre said: “She is fine and in good shape.

“She ran nicely in the Vermeille and I think the better ground will help her.

“She is my only runner (at the Breeders’ Cup) this year. I think she can be competitive.”

Dank, trained by Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore, is another strong contender for the Europeans.

The four-year-old Dansili filly has made superb progress this season, winning a Group Two at the Curragh before scorching four and a quarter lengths clear in the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park in August.
