Hong Kong beckons for Sprint winner
The Dandy Man colt secured his third win from four starts in the lucrative Newbury sales race in July, proving his purchase price of £20,000 a real bargain.
He holds entries in the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury and Redcar’s Two-Year-Old Trophy, but has already moved on to pastures new.
Fahey said: “He’s been sold to Hong Kong. We do sell horses, so he has moved on.”
Two classy colts still very much in Fahey’s plans are Garswood and Parbold.
Garswood claimed Group Two honours in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and his trainer is still considering the next plan of attack.
“He’s in the Park Stakes at Doncaster (September 14) , the Prix du Moulin (Longchamp, September 15) and the Prix de la Foret (Longchamp, October 6), so we’ll see which way we go,” said Fahey.
“He’s in great order at the moment, I’m delighted with him.
“I’d like to maybe get two more runs into him this year, but we’ll see.”
The Musley Bank trainer has never made any secret of the regard in which he holds Parbold, but although he has run well to be placed in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and the Gimcrack at York, Fahey remains adamant his charge has not yet produced his very best on the racecourse.
“Hand on heart I was a bit disappointed with him at York,” he said.
“He ran another strange race. He travelled well, flattened out and then came back again.
“I thought he was going to be top-drawer, maybe he still is, but he’s not shown his best on the track.
“He’s growing on me all the time and he’s not the finished article yet.
“I’m in no rush with him. He has a few entries and I would say it will be October before he runs again.”
Fahey was also thrilled to see admirable filly Ladys First finally break her Group-race duck in a dead-heat finish to Saturday’s Atalanta Stakes at Sandown.
He said: “No horse deserves to win any race, but she’d definitely earned that.
“You don’t always get what you deserve, but she’s so tough and it’s great she’s got that Group Three on the board now.
“She probably just lacks a gear to be a Group One filly, but she’s Group Two placed a couple of times and now has that Group Three win.
“She’s had some hard races so I’ll speak to the owner and have a think about where we go next.”
