Urano poised to come good
When a horse repeatedly fills the dreaded number two berth then questions have to be asked about his enthusiasm for the game.
But Urano surely has to be given the benefit of the doubt, because he’s simply been beaten by some decent horses.
At Thurles, he went under to Ally Cascade, then to Ned Buntline at Leopardstown and finally Legal Exit, back at Leopardstown.
This represents Urano’s best opportunity to date and his form received a timely boost when Legal Exit won easily at Limerick on Sunday. Willie Mullins trains Urano and may also have the answer to a tricky little four-runner Brian Cody And Aidan O’Brien Novice Hurdle with Midnight Oil.
The selection’s jumping does leave a bit to be desired, but hopefully can get it reasonably right in this small field.
Midnight Oil made a bad mistake at the fourth at Fairyhouse last time, before eventually finishing two lengths second behind Art Of Logistics.
The rest of the card looks hard, but one who can oblige is Gordon Elliott’s Very Wood in the second division of the Jackie Tyrrell And Glanbia Bumper. An easy winner of a point-to-point at Oldtown, he has a good reputation and should have the legs on Willie Mullins’ Indevan, who went under by a head to Elliott’s Rockdown on this track last month.
Sean Aherne’s Gerdalia, beaten three parts of a length by Castle Genie at Clonmel 12 days ago, gets the vote in the modest Eoin Larkin And Sports Injury Surgery Clinic Beginners Chase.
