Concorde can wing in

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen can combine for a first and last race double with Lake District and Spirit Of Concorde at Goran Park this afternoon.

Concorde can wing in

The once-raced Spirit Of Concorde, a son of Epsom Derby winner, Authorized, gets the nap in the 12 furlongs Thomastown Maiden.

He made a decent impression on his debut at Navan last April and, hopefully, can now build on that.

The selection was beaten three and a quarter lengths into second place by John Oxx’s Karatash, in a contest that has been working out particularly well.

Karatash went on to take third in a Listed event at Leopardstown, his only subsequent run, while Montebell ((third), Mizani (fourth) and Father Of Science (fifth) have all won in the meantime.

Lake District, also with just one outing under his belt, can provide the answer to the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF three-year-old Maiden.

The Raven’s Pass colt made a favourable impression at the Curragh 15 days ago and can surely built on that.
